Franshhoek & its vinyards

Culinary capital of South Africa - Michelle is very happy here!

sunny 33 °C

Yesterday we drove about an hour from Cape Town into the main Western Cape winelands.
Here there are about 300 different wine producers and we stopped at a couple for wine tasting on the way into Franshhoek that morning.
At Graham Beck vineyard Michelle opted for the wine & chocolate pairing tasting which she thoroughly enjoyed. At this modern setting you tasted wine while watching the bottles being labelled in the factory.
We then headed up the road to Rickety Bridge vineyard where we sat outside beside the vines and sampled wine while eating a selection of cheese, figs and crackers - all very refined!
Our accom at Maison D'ail is gorgeous - both the decor and it's views of the mountains. It's one of the nicest places we've ever stayed.
We relaxed by the pool on what was the hottest day so far and then dandered into town for a few drinks and went to Reubens for a fantastic meal (and more wine).
All in all a great day!
